About the Event
Exploring Cyclic Patterns Through Weaving:
Explore symbols and patterns through ancient weaving techniques usingrepetition of motifs and rhythmic processes. Recreate natural patterns and geometric shapes through weaving. Experiment with weaving patterns that feature geometric motifs such as circles, triangles, squares, and spirals. These shapes can represent universal concepts such as unity, balance, harmony, and the interconnectedness of all things.

Day One - Saturday 19th September - 9:30am-4:30pm
We'll start with an intro chat about natural fibre art and why Lisa is so passionate about it and why it's so great; it's sustainability and environmental compatability, foraged fibres etc. Followed by an introduction to yarn making and we will make our own length of string which will become our own personal amulet. Participants are asked to bring along any gifts from nature they have stashed which can be incorporated into this amulet.
This all will morph into examples and teaching of what can be created from hand made string; so netting and looping to make a small vessel or small dilly bag.
Day Two - Sunday 20th September - 9:30am-4:30pm
We'll start with random weaving to make s pods, nest or coccoon type sculpture using the very specific random weave technique (which is not so random).
We'd be using both cane and foraged fibres for this, as cane give the initial structure which is helpful for people who are new to this.
Afternoon session would be coiling into an object or form to make a little vase or hanging garlic basket.
