About the Event

Tracks is a program designed by and for the youth of Hopetoun. Across six months of programming, teens aged 12+ are invited to move, strengthen and nourish their mind, body and soul through curated sessions from facilitators near and far. This unique experience is offered without cost through the Physical Activity Innovation Challenge by Healthway.

Waterman / Waterwoman [noun]

1. One who has achieved a certain level of mastery across multiple ocean disciplines.

Put simply, watermanship training aims to broaden the participants' ocean awareness and safety. It combines principles of freediving, lifesaving, sailing, ocean swimming, surfing, spearfishing...and so much more!

Watermanship training is for everyone, at all levels of fitness and ocean knowledge. We consider the quest to become a waterman or woman a life-long journey full of learning, challenge and growth.

The One Ocean Watermanship Youth Programme spans two days on the weekend of the 29th and 30th of October. Both sessions must be attended. The Saturday session is 8am - 2pm and the Sunday runs from 10am - 4pm.

WATERMANSHIP YOUTH PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION

Using engaging, practical, fun and functional training principles (outlined below), the One Ocean

International team will take students through a range of guided challenges.

At each stage they will be invited to use a range of newly-learned watermanship and mental

resilience skills in a comfortable, stress-free training environment.

Each session will build on the learnings of the one before and will involve self-paced

consolidation and review.

The skills developed during these sessions will be hugely beneficial in all ocean environments ,

however the ultimate goal is that students feel confident enough to apply them in broader life

settings to assist in maintaining a positive approach to their overall health and wellbeing.

NOTE: Parents are encouraged to attend this program as additional support for the instructors and youth in the water. If you would like to attend please contact Emily on 0432637940 for further information.

ONE OCEAN INTERNATIONAL TEAM

During the two programme days, the entire One Ocean International team of Instructors will be

available to assist and offer guidance to students during free-time away from formal teaching

sessions. From past experiences, these free sessions are where a great deal of growth and

development come from, after the students have had time to process knowledge from the

formal sessions.

The One Ocean International team usually consists of three (3) Instructors, including a guest

One Ocean International Waterwoman Ambassador who will not only assist in the delivery of

the programme, but also provide real-life context in the application of mental resilience

techniques.
