About the Event

Tracks is a program designed by and for the youth of Hopetoun. Across six months of programming, teens aged 12+ are invited to move, strengthen and nourish their mind, body and soul through curated sessions from facilitators near and far. This unique experience is offered without cost through the Physical Activity Innovation Challenge by Healthway.

Learn Martial Arts from one of the best instructors on the South West Coast. Jiu Jitsu is about discipline, self-defence and awareness, developing strength in both mind and body. In these few sessions the youth of Hopetoun will grapple on mats, paired with a partner under the supervision of Richard Peterson from Albany.

NOTE: Youth must bring a change of clothes from school to attend this afternoon session.

Please pack a clean shirt that covers shoulders/underarms and loose pants.

Please contact Emily on 0432 637 940 for enquiries.

ABOUT RICHARD PETERSON

Richard has been training BJJ for 10 years and is the head coach and owner of SBGWA. He has been coaching for 7 of those years.

His coaching style is a modern and progressive approach where he encourages team members to work together and become independent learners rather than follow the traditional martial arts model of 'do as you are told or else'.

He continues to push his knowledge in the craft of coaching by recording sessions and having them evaluated by the founder of SBG International Matt Thornton and head coach of 80/20 BJJ Dion Mendel. This ensures that what Richard is doing is being held up to the high standards that SBG is known for all over the world.

Richard keeps things  simple and fundamentally sound where you can build complexity as you need it on a strong foundation. SBGWA has a reputation for getting people good in a short amount of time, leading to a consistent outcome.
