What is it?:
The Colour Run is not a race, so you don't have to be extremely fit to enter. It is a 5km walk or run that you can complete at your own pace. You will start at McCulloch Park, travel along Southern Ocean Rd until the 2 Mile Beach turn off and then head back to McCulloch Park. There will be colour stations along the way where you will be getting covered in colour, and we'll have a some water activities which will make sure you go home brightly coloured!
Who Can Participate?:
Anyone can participate. Children under 12 must be with a supervising adult that is also participating. Children under 3 are free but must be with a supervising adult that is also participating. Participation is at your own risk. You must assess you own level of fitness and ability to participate in the event.
What will be on offer at the event? :
There will be awesome Live Music from Grand Casual, Franzone and Bodes as well as markets and expos. This will commence in the park at 3pm until 7pm. There will be lots of food and drink choices so bring along some extra $$ for refreshments. Please note this is family friendly community event. Consumption of BYO alcohol is permitted within the park boundaries.
Prams/Scooters/Bikes/Pets:
Prams are welcome but are likely to get covered in colour we therefore recommend you use a pram rain cover and use at your own risk. Scooters, bikes and the like are NOT permitted. Pets or animals of any kind are NOT permitted.
What is the Powder?:
The powder is completely safe (it is coloured cornflour) however we recommend you bring anything you would normally take when participating in physical activity. We don't recommend breathing it in intentionally. Sunglasses are provided as part of the registration pack.
Transport/Parking:
We encourage you to walk or ride to the event!
There will be limited street side parking available around McCulloch Park or you can park at the Groyne.
How can I contact the event organiser with any questions or queries?
Please contact the Hopetoun CRC by Phone on 9838 3062, Email hopetoun@crc.net.au or Messenger Hopetoun CRC & Visitor Centre.
Do I have to bring my receipt/ticket to the event?
Yes please. This will speed up the registration process.
What if it rains?
It doesn't matter, you’re probably going to get wet anyway!
What do I need to wear?
Closed in shoes (that can get wet). White shirt is included in your pack (Ladies - we recommend you wear a singlet/shirt/bathers underneath your shirt). While the dye is washable we don’t recommend you wear your favourite clothes. Remember to Slip, Slop, Slap! Free sunscreen will be provided.
What if I can’t make the event?
Refunds are available up to 14 days before the event. After this you will not be able to get a refund.
Can I volunteer at the event?
Yes! We will need a number of volunteers on the day, so if you are interested in helping out please contact Hopetoun CRC by phone on 9838 3062 or email hopetoun@crc.net.au
Is there showering facilities available at the venue?
Yes there are cold showers at the town beach toilet facilities. Otherwise, bring a garbage bag or old towels to protect the car seats for the journey home. There will be a cleaning station where you can have the loose powder blown off your clothing, and there will be some wipes available to clean your face and hands.
Will the colour wash out of clothing?
The colour powder will wash out of most fabrics however we recommend you wear clothing and shoes that you don't mind if they are stained. Visit an op shop for clothing if you don't have any suitable.
I want to keep my shirt coloured? Is there a way to preserve the colours?
If you would like to preserve the colour in your running shirt, spray it with vinegar, let it dry and then iron it. But if you wash it, the colour eventually will come out.
Is it safe to bring my phone or camera?
Yes, at your own risk. The colour powder does drift and there will be water involved so we recommend if you want to take pics as you go then place your phone in a zip lock plastic bag for safe keeping. You won't be able to carry it in your hand though so make sure you have a pocket in your outfit.
Can I take pictures of my family/friends participating in the event?
You will be able to stand track side for some of the course however the best place to be for photo opportunities will be at McCulloch Park as the participants start and finish there.
